Note: Science actually says this is a really bad idea. Together with binging “relief drinking”, as it is called, is a common pathway to developing alcohol dependence where the brain adapts to work better with alcohol in the bloodstream. Alcohol dependence is linked to a long list of problems, including anxiety, depression, heart problems, accidents, job and relationship difficulties and impotence. It typically takes between three months and a year of not drinking to overcome the measurable symptoms, with other benefits reported thereafter. ■
